Mariano Donk Leads out the Turn

The Turn 6 was a more than favorable one for Mariano who had now picked up trip sixes. He donk led out $2,000, hoping his opponent would not put him on trips. And that is exactly what happened. Wesley responded by playing into Mariano’s hand by semi-bluffing to $6,000 with his straight draw. Setting the Trap Grandoli called, heading to the River the pot stood tall at just shy of $20k ($19,200)

And what a river it was! The 10 had made Wesley his straight. The action was checked over to the aggressor who fired out an over bet of $20k.

The painful thing for Mariano is that had Wesley missed his draw, there is a strong argument to say his opponent would likely have bluffed the river.

Without a button, which he did not have, Wesley’s odds of bluffing were higher than usual. Taking this into account, and the fact he had trip Sixes, Mariano made an incredibly good disciplined fold.
