Thomas Dwan Jr. AKA Tom Dwan was born on July 30, 1986, in Edison, New Jersey. He is a high-stakes poker pro who goes by the alias “Durrrr,” He first entered the high-stakes online poker scene in 2007. At the age of 17, he first began playing poker online in 2004.  He Went on to be sponsored by the now defunct Full Tilt Poker.

Tom Dwan: Early Life

Tom enrolled at Boston University in 2004 after graduating from high school. He intended to study to become an engineer but changed his mind and left college after his first year to focus on building a poker career. 

Tom Dwan’s life changed in 2008 when he won $5.41 million in total by the end of the year. Before the 2007 World Series of Poker, Durrrr claimed he lost $2 million of his $3 million bankroll in four months. He is one of the poker pros who can lose big money in a short amount of time, but his skill prevails in the end.

In 2009 and again in 2012, he became a Full Tilt brand ambassador. He uses the screen name “durrrr” when playing on Full Tilt. By 2014, Dwan had three final table appearances and ten money finishes at the World Series of Poker.

Tom Dwan: Poker Career & Highlights

Tom Dwan’s appearances in the highest stakes No-Limit Hold ’em and No-Limit Limit Omaha games made him famous. He has won numerous awards and competitions over the past couple of years, including NBC’s “National Heads-Up Poker Championship.” 

Dwan in 2009, lost more than $3.5 million, he was able to recover the loss within six months. He was defeated by Phil Ivey and Ilari Sahamies for $2 million and another $5 million to Victor Bloom. By the year’s end, he had lost $4.45 million playing online poker. This significantly decreased his winnings at Full Tilt online poker in the first few months of 2007 by just over $1.4 million.

Tom Dwan won $1.6 million after only two hours of playing with Sahamies. He continued to make $7.3 million through a series of online games. Three weeks after winning the money, he lost $4 million while continuing to play the game. Leading him to $3.3 million net worth in 2010

He also participated in three different World Series of Poker events in 2011. He finished fifth in one of the events he played in, the $10,000 H.O.R.S.E Championship, and won $134,480.

Tom Dwan Holds the Record: Largest Cash Poker Hand

Dwan holds the record for the largest pot won during a live streamed poker game: During the HCL Million Dollar Cash Game he earned more than $3.1 million.

Tom spent the majority of his time in 2016 participating in high stakes cash games in Manila and Macau.
