Aside from her participation in live tournaments, she has also appeared in several episodes of Hustler Casino Live, earning a total net win of $17.7K.
Jami Lafay got off to a fast start in her HCL journey, being able to cash in during her first two episodes. She made her first appearance in Episode 220 Max Pain Monday in June 2022. Lafay dominated the $10/20 No Limit Hold’em game during her debut, winning the most money of $18K. She played against Mike X, DGAF, Sashimi.
She returned a week later in June 2023, in Episode 224 Max Pain Monday, and played another $10/20 No Limit Hold’em game. Lafay did it again, winning the most money in this episode, $19K. This was also her highest earning during her appearances on HCL. Lynne Ji, Edonk, Aaron Kweskin, and others were among those she faced.
Jami’s momentum dwindled after this episode as she ended up losing more money in her subsequent appearances. In July 2022’s Episode 230 of Max Pain Monday, she lost -$7.5K after playing another $10/20 No Limit Hold’em game against DQ, Darren, Crazy Jim.
Her appearance in Episode 345 of Max Pain Monday in January 2023 will be no different. After playing a $10/20 No Limit Hold’em game, she lost an additional -$4.7K. Lafay competed against Nick Vertucci, Amanda Botfeld, Nick Austin, and others.
In January 2023 Episode 355 Max Pain Monday, Jami took part in another $10/20 No Limit Hold’em game. She played with Sia The Bot, DJ Washburn, Israeli Ron, and others. Jami was down -$7.6K when the game ended. This was her biggest loss ever recorded throughout her appearances on HCL.
Jami Lafay has $3.5K in live tournament earnings, with the highest live cash being $1.8K. In April 2019, she earned $1.8K after finishing third in a $125 No Limit Hold’em event at the DeepStack Extravaganza II in Las Vegas. This was also her first cash in a live tournament. Her most recent cash, was in December 2022, when she competed in a $520 + 80 No Limit Hold’em at the World Poker Tour Championship at Wynn Las Vegas. She came in 10th place and earned $777.
Jami Lafay has a habit of getting involved in Twitter chaos. Someone called her out in late December for another controversy she was involved with, in which she told a guy at a poker table that he smelled, demanded a table change, and then boasted about it on Twitter. Most poker Twitter users were not pleased and jumped on her case.
Pocahontas, on the other hand, is a young female aspiring Las Vegas poker pro who is Native American and chose the nickname as a play on “Pocohontas.” This has been done before, as legendary old-school female player Betty Carey used the name “Pokerhauntez” on Party Poker in the early 2000s. This prompted Jami, who claims to be a Comanche, to mock her while playing live with her, and Pokerhontas freaked out and announced that she would change her name and stop using social media.
Jami Lafay has been accused of stealing from the poker community to cover her gambling losses while feigning illness. The allegations were made public by Todd Witteles on his PokerFraudAlert Forums website, and Twitter picked them up. Chemotherapy is being given to Jami Lafay to treat multiple tumors and the $50,000 goal of the GoFundMe is meant to cover costs and lost income. Witteles is certain that her account does not “add up,” but the supporting evidence is only circumstantial.
Lafay underwent a ten-hour surgery to have the adenoma removed. Complications resulted in a second round of surgery that evening and nerve damage the following day. Recovery will take three to six months, and additional surgery will be required. Todd Witteles criticized the GoFundMe on the Poker Fraud Alert forums the same day that Lafay underwent surgery. He pointed out contradictions in Lafay’s account of the events. He also mentioned that prior actions that he believed revealed her bad character. Witteles acknowledges that he thinks Lafay’s surgeries and illness are real. However, he maintains that Lafay’s GoFundMe is an attempt to profit from her misfortune. Rather than a sincere effort on her part to meet a critical need.
Jami Lafay’s poker journey on Hustler Casino Live has seen its ups and downs, with some notable wins early on, but also significant losses in subsequent episodes. Her highest earning on the show was $19,000 in a $10/20 No Limit Hold’em game. Despite her early success, she faced challenges in maintaining her momentum in later episodes, resulting in substantial losses.
In live tournaments, Jami has earned $3,500, with her best live cash being $1,800. Her poker career has included notable achievements, such as finishing third in a DeepStack Extravaganza II event in Las Vegas and a 10th-place finish at the World Poker Tour Championship at Wynn Las Vegas in December 2022.
Jami’s social media presence has not been without controversy, with incidents involving disputes at poker tables and disagreements on Twitter. Her interactions with other poker players, such as Pokerhontas, have drawn attention and sparked debates within the poker community.
