Born and raised in Minnesota, Casino king has recently left his job as an Executive Video Producer at Sports Illustrated to pursue a full-time poker career. His interest in poker began during his senior year. He used to play at Mystic Lake Casino. Casino King also became interested in video production and attended college for a video-related course. He landed a job at the NFL Network and visited Hollywood Park Casino. The King worked his way up in the sports industry over the next few years. As he ascended the corporate ladder, he realized that he had lost his creative edge, so he launched his own TikTok account on the side, where he simply posted funny videos about poker casino content in general. Until one video, the pocket jacks video, took off. His fan base grew from 10 to 10,000 in an instant, prompting him to change his name to the Casino King.
As his following grew, he came across Phil Hellmuth’s email address and decided to give it a shot, sending him an email asking permission for an interview, which Hellmuth eventually agreed to. The clips he made with Hellmuth went viral. Following the interview, he interviewed Eric Persson, Phil Hellmuth’s main rival at the time. He flew to Vegas to meet Eric and happened upon a slot machine; it was the first time he vlogged his poker hands and got bashed. That’s when he realized what type of content videos he wanted to create. This video has received millions of views across all platforms. Nick Vertucci invited him to be on a podcast the next morning. He decided to quit his job and play poker full-time after he left. Check out the video below to watch his story.
