Mike X Goes from Maniac to Having the Goods

The Standup game brings the action, and that’s why we love it! Players that usually play a reserved game turn into complete maniacs. Having seen Mike X go bonkers (first hand of video) pre-flop, Mariano had to believe his bottom set was good. Let’s dive into the hand in question that occurred recently at  Hustler Casino Live. The game featured blinds of $50/100 + a $100 BB Ante, and was live-streamed on Hustler Casino’s YouTube channel.

After a raise and several calls, King Henry ($141,350) in the small blind amped up the ante with a 3-bet to $2,600 with KKing of SpadesQQueen of Diamonds. Four players called behind including Mariano ($207,850) (22 of Spades22 of Clubs) in the big blind, Britney ($73,400) (QQueen of Hearts88 of Hearts) in the Highjack, and Mike X ($36,200) (66 of Diamonds66 of Clubs) the UTG straddler. Five players to the flop, creating a $13,100 pot and the potential for wild action.

Sets Collide with a Flush Draw in the Mix

In a multi-way pot, the unpredictability of the action tends to ramp up, and this hand was no exception. When the flop revealed JJoker of Spades66 of Hearts22 of Hearts, chaos unfolded. Mariano hit bottom set, Mike X connected with middle set, and Britney picked up a Queen-high flush draw, making a recipe for disaster. After the flop was checked to him, Mike X took the opportunity to bet $5,500, looking to capitalize on his set. Britney, chasing her flush draw, called without hesitation, and Mariano, sitting on a powerhouse with his set of deuces, also made the call. Now down to three players, the pot ballooned to $29,600, setting up a dramatic turn to come.

Britney Picks up a few Further outs

The turn was a complete blank 99 of Clubs, although it did give Britney a little more equity with a further three outs, a Ten would make her a straight. With the pot standing at close to $30k and Mike having $30,700 left in front he ripped his remaining stack “All in”. The standup game was now in full swing. Having seen Mike’s antics earlier, he really could have a magnitude of hands here, and not all of them strong!

Britney was getting 2-1 to make the call, which in a normal game would not be the correct price, however, the standup game throws poker logic out of the window. She made the call and looked frustrated when Mariano raised putting her all in for “65,800. Although she knew she was going to have to get lucky, she was more than priced in. All three agreed to run the hand twice. Mariano kindly reminded Britney not to muck her hand, there was a substantial side pot in play!

After the 33 of Diamonds landed on the first river Mariano thought he had clinched the first full pot “I thought that was a deuce for a second” he exclaimed. The second run was nowhere near as thrilling, the AAce of Spades sealed Britney’s fate, for Mike though it was the dream runout, he scooped the main pot tripling up in the process.
