Poker at the lodge will be getting wacky at the start of February. From the 1st-4th the Lodge will be hosting ten different tournaments with very affordable buyins ranging from $100-$300. The games on offer sure are wacky with the series being labelled as “4 Days of Crazy Poker Games you’ve never played”
Some of the games are relatively straight forward such as “Deuces Wild” essentially any Deuce will be played as “wild” it can be used to represent any card in the deck. The Hand rankings are the same except the following:
All the remaining hand rankings remain the same regardless if it includes a wild. E.g. a natural three of a card is off equal value to that that includes a wild deuce. Needless to say starting pocket Deuces is a beast of a hand.
Some of the other ones are not quite as wild or fun for that matter. Take the game “No checking NLH” Which will be played on Saturday 3rd Feb. “At no time as well as any position will a player be permitted to check their hand. All actions must be a bet or fold.
Open folding will be permitted in this tournament”. Although it brings a different dynamic to NLHE for sure and brings a different strategy, in terms of enjoyability give me “deuces wild any day” let’s try and hit five of a kind!.
Another fun little game will be “Fun Under the Gun” Each player will be dealt four cards, whoever is in the position “under the gun” will choose from the following four games.
From a strategy point of view the option to choose between either pot limit or limit is an interesting choice, this perhaps could be used to ones advantage closer to the bubble. E.g. to create more action in the hope of a player getting knocked out Pot Limit Omaha would be a great choice.
Doug Polk Took to his X account (Formally Twitter) to announce he will be playing daily. “I will be there daily, playing some of these stupid events, and starting weird cash games.” By the sounds of it the games on offer will find there way over to the cash game tables too. Polk also took the time to answer questions from X users. Dinosaur Taxes wrote “I need more specifics on the no checking tournament. How exactly does that work? Do you have to bet? Can you just open fold? I guess you couldn’t really run a game where you weren’t allowed to open fold”. To which Polk replied “Imagine the poker options but without checking”.
Here at Top Poker Streamers we look forward to Poker At The Lodge showcasing these Wacky games on their YouTube Channel.
