Stanley Tang is a Chinese-American businessman and the co-founder of DoorDash. He is a Hong Kong billionaire tech entrepreneur with a computer science degree from Stanford University. He is an avid poker player who competes in cash games such as Hustler Casino Live and also participates in live tournaments.

Stanley Tang Early Life

Stanley Tang was born in 1992 and raised in Hong Kong. He started using computers at the age of three. In his young teens he created websites for himself and his friends. Since then, he has launched lots of successful products and generated tens of thousands of dollars on the Internet. Tang attended the King George V School in Hong Kong from 2003 to 2010, prior to starting at Stanford in 2010. 

He was a member of the Business Association of Stanford Entrepreneurial Students organization while at Stanford, and he worked as a software engineer at Facebook in the summer of 2012. In 2014, he graduated from Stanford University with a BS in computer science with a concentration in human-computer interaction. At the age of 14, he became an Amazon best-selling author with his book millions, and at the age of 22, he raised more than $57 million in seed capital for DoorDash. 

Also, Stanley Tang and his Stanford University brothers Evan Moore, Andy Fang, and Tony Xu co-founded and built the leading food delivery service chain DoorDash. The four of them started DoorDash, which was originally called Palo Alto Delivery, out of a dorm on campus. At the time, he was a 15-year-old junior at Stanford University. On January 12, 2013, they launched the company website and received their first order within hours. 

He has also served on the board of directors since May 2013. From May 2013 to November 2017, he was the chief product officer. Tang has been the CEO of DoorDash Labs, the company’s robotics and automation division, since November 2017.

Stanley Tang Poker Career

One of the most well-known players in Hustler Casino Live‘s high-stakes cash games is Stanley Tang. He has been taking part since August 2021 and made an appearance at Episode 19 playing alongside recognized players like Nick Vertucci, Mike Nia, Chris Chen, and many others. In May 2023, he won the HCL’s Million Dollar Game for $111,000, but two days later, he suffered his biggest loss of $1,000,000 against Hasan Onay, Ethan Yau, Nikhil Arcot, and many others. He had suffered continuous losses from high-stakes poker from March to May 2023.

As for his most recent appearance, it was at High Stakes Poker S11 Episode 7 in October 2023.  Also, as of this writing, Stanley Tang’s involvement in high-stakes cash games at HCL and HSP has resulted in a sizable loss of -$1,343,925.

Stanley Tang’s Live Tournament Participation

Stanley Tang’s first tournament appearance was in November 2016 at the Asia Championship of Poker in Macau. He finished 21st and received $5,803. He also attended the 48th World Series of Poker in Las Vegas in June 2017 and the Aria Poker Classic in Las Vegas the following year.

Also, he made it to the final table in September 2017 by finishing fourth at the Aria Resort & Casino Recurring Tournaments in Las Vegas.

The PokerGO Tour PGT Poker Masters in Las Vegas was where he won the most money from live tournaments. He received $319,000 for finishing fourth. At that competition, Michael Addamo took first place and received $1,160,000.

Additionally, he last appeared playing in a WSOP event in July 2023 at the 54th World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, where he finished 16th and 98th and took home a total of $103,249 in prize money.

Conclusion

Stanley Tan is a well-known poker player not only for his playing abilities, but also as the founder of a well-known application called DoorDash. He is also seen playing on Hustler Casino Live and making an appearance in the poker community, as he competed in the 2022 Summer Aria High Rollers last year and finished second.

It is still unknown whether he will take a break from playing, but one thing is certain: he will play more and participate in a poker tournament in the future, showing more of his playing abilities and wits.
