Josh Wilcox: Early Life

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Josh Wilcox attended Emory University from 2000 to 2004, earning a degree in Environmental Science. After graduating, he worked as a video journalist at CNN from 2005 to 2007 before transitioning to a career as a freelance filmmaker, a role he continues to pursue while occasionally playing poker. Currently, Josh is the writer of the new movie ‘Dead Money,’ a poker film.

Josh Wilcox first recorded live cash occurred in January 2010 during the Southern Poker Championship in Biloxi. He finished in 28th place in a $300 + 45 No Limit Hold’em, cashing $638.

Year later, in January 2011, Josh secured a prize of $2,813 during the Southern Poker Championship. He joined in a $500 + 50 No Limit Hold’em and finished in 9th place.

In November 2013, Josh played in a $1,650 No Limit Hold’em – WPT Championship at the L.A Poker Classic. He finished in 11th place and secured his biggest live cash of $13,300.

At the WSOP Circuit in Cherokee in December 2014, he earned a cash prize of $10,126. Josh participated in a $1,675 No Limit Hold’em – Main Event and secured 20th place.

Most recently, in June 2024, he competed in a $1,500 No Limit Hold’em – Millionaire Maker Bracelet Event #54 at the 55th World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. Josh placed 1500th and cashed $3,000.
