In a recent poker showdown, Matt Berkey Beats Airball and emerged victorious after 58 hours of intense heads-up play against Nik Airball.
The two players had a history of verbal sparring, with Nik Airball previously accusing Berkey of running a scam with his Solve For Why Poker Training Academy. Even Doug Polk joined in on the criticism. However, the two eventually agreed to a $200/$40 ($400 ante) game, set to last for 100 hours but with either player allowed to call it when they found themselves down $1,000,000.
On Saturday May the 6th, 2023, Berkey had a significant lead of $669,300, with Airball only holding $350,000. By the first break, Berkey had increased his lead by another $145,000, and shortly thereafter, Airball threw in the towel after losing the rest of his stack. The final hand saw Berkey’s set of tens beating Airball’s set of threes.
Despite their past disputes, Berkey and Airball were able to shake hands and put the challenge to rest. Airball’s loss was part of a larger downswing, having lost more than $200,000 the night before on Hustler Casino Live and roughly $120,000 on the live edition of PokerGO’s High Stakes Poker.
Berkey, on the other hand, expressed openness to playing Airball again. And after the match, Garrett Adelstein stepped up to take on Nik Airball in the next showdown.
