A Daring Move By Airball During High Stakes At the Lodge

A controlled Move By Airball, or Reckless?

Let’s look at this hand that was played at Poker At the Lodge between  Nik Airball, Taras & Action Dan with the blinds set at $200/$400. The action was live-streamed on Poker At the Lodge’s YouTube Channel on the 28th of April 2024.

After a Straddle the asking price to see the flop was $800. First to join the hand was Viper ($64.5k) from the high-jack who limped into the pot with KKing of Hearts1010 of Clubs. Next to act in the cut-off Taras ($120.2k) opted to up the ante by raising it to $3,000 with 1010 of Hearts99 of Hearts. In position on the button was Airball ($109.2k) who had been dealt the snowmen 88 of Clubs88 of Diamonds. Surprisingly he just made the call. Living up to his name, Action Dan ($179.2k) in the small blind chucked out a huge 3-bet to $18,000 holding JJoker of Hearts77 of Hearts. After a couple of folds including Viper, the action was now back on Taras.

With no intention of folding he made the call. Knowing just how aggressive Action Dan can be, when the action was back on Airball his play was to ship it “All in”. Dan made a quick fold, as did Taras. A risky move by Airball, which allowed him to pick up $38.4k uncontested.
