Alex “British Bulldog” Pulls Off Very Risky Bluff in the $100/$200 WPT Cash Game Stream

Check out this hand from a $100/$200 World Poker Tour cash game Stream (WPT). It was live streamed on their YouTube and Twitch channels on December 9th 2023. The hand was played between Alex “British Bulldog”, Xuan Liu & Yoh Viral.

The action began with Yoh Viral ($127k) raising it up to $900 from UTG with pocket Queens QQueen of DiamondsQQueen of Clubs. In position on the button Xuan ($66k) made the call with 99 of Diamonds88 of Diamonds. In the Big blind was Alex ($104k), who put out a large 3-bet to $5,400 with JJoker of Clubs1010 of Clubs. The action was now back on Yoh who made the call, as did Xuan. Three players went to the flop with $16,300 in the pot.

The flop came down KKing of Clubs66 of Hearts77 of Hearts giving Xuan an up and down straight draw, Yoh Viral clearly did not like the King as he folded to Alex’s lead out bet of $5,400. Xuan with her straight draw made the call, the pot now stood at $27,100.

Alex “British Bulldog” Pulls The Trigger

The turn was an interesting one, the 88 of Spades gave Xuan a pair to go along with her straight draw. Just as before Alex led out once again. This time the bet was $15,000. Xuan made the call and there was now an incredible $57,100 in the middle.

The river revealed the QQueen of Hearts a very scary card, if Xuan had been chasing a flush which was very plausible giving the way the hand played out, she would have now got there. The Bulldog had no fear though, knowing his Jack high was never going to be good, he jammed his stack all in, putting Liu all in for her remaining $41k. In these type of spots Liu has to ask the question why is my opponent not fearing the board? for instance would a Pair of Aces lead out here? After some thought Liu did lay it down, and Alex’s risky, yet rewarding bluff scooped up the $57,100 pot.
