And Let’s not forget Peter, he is also renowned for loosening up with a no-fear approach. ACR Poker’s newest signing Dwan is by far the most experienced, you would have to feel he has to be super confident to end the night’s session with a healthy profit. Let’s look at the biggest pot of last year’s Day 1.
Ben ($649k) got this monstrosity of a pot underway from the +1 with a raise to $2k holding . His raise was instantly met with aggression from Jean-Robert Bellande ($1.3M) who chucked out a $10k 3-bet with pocket sixes from the +2. Next to enter the mix was Stanley Tang ($1m), who made the call with a pocket pair of his own . Brandon Steven ($871k) casually threw $10k in the middle holding .
With the pot standing at $35.5k, Dusk till Dawn owner Rob Yong ($927k) amped up the pressure on the button by 4-betting to $70k with . Ben mucked, and now the action was back on the JRB. This could have easily ended pre-flop with everyone folding to the 4-bet. Not JRB however, he had other ideas! Nobody saw the impending $200k 5-bet. Ben a keen observer, nodded his head in excitement at the potential of a huge pot.
Rob faced a tough decision with nearly $300k in the middle. Could his opponent have Aces or Kings? Queens was possible, and perhaps also Ace-King. Rather than Ship the remainder of his stack in the middle, Rob cautiously flatted and the pair went to the flop with an incredible $426k in the middle.
After a flop of
both players must have been unhappy having completely whiffed. This could have been a case of whoever bets first takes it down. The action went check, check.The turn was another Blank, the
Paired the board? Although out of position JRB could have put out a feeler bet to find out where his Sixes were at, instead he checked it over for a second time. As before Rob controlled the pot by checking back.Rob’s decision to check it back yielded full reward when the
showed it’s head on the river. not only Had Rob hit top pair top kicker, but his opponent tried to represent the hand Rob was holding. The bet from JRB Was a respectable $200k. Yong made the quick call and the gigantic $826k pot went in his direction.Let’s hope the action of The Million Dollar Game day 1 2024 will have just as many hype hands as last years did.
