“The Robbi” and “The Doyle” Stand Alone!

“The Robbi” and “The Doyle” Stand Alone!
Doyle Brunson

The story of “The Robbi” and “The Doyle”: If anyone has been following poker at all for the past forty to fifty years they know what hand is called “The Doyle” , a ten and a deuce.  This hand is named after Doyle Brunson, “The Godfather of Poker”.  The hand was named after him after he won the World Series of Poker Main Event back to back holding that hand in 1976 and 1977. For more of Doyle Brunson’s career WSOP earnings you can see his Hendon Mob Page. As far as main stream poker, “The Doyle” is the only hand that has been named after a person and is widely know. The name has also past the test of time.

It looks like it is time for “the Doyle” to make room for the second hand named after a person, “The Robbi”. I first heard this said by Doug Polk. On one of the relaunch streams of Poker at The Lodge. Robbi Jade Lew was playing in the game. Doug was giving crazy action with “The Robbi”, J-4. This has to now be added to the list. If you have not heard about the by now infamous “J-4 Hand”, then you have been hiding for the last six months. Doug mentioned the idea that this is the only other hand besides the Doyle that is named after a person.

We will not go in to the whole complicated story of the hand that played between Robbi Jade Lew and Garret Adelstein on Hustler Casino Live, where she called an over-bet turn shove of approximately $100,000 into a pot of $60,000. Garret was holding a straight-flush draw but only ten high while Robbi had Jack High. When the dust settled, Robbi won the hand both times, after running it twice, and the legend was born.

“The Robbi” Conclusion

The real question is will “The Robbi” stand the test of time as “The Doyle” has for decades.  This is obviously impossible to know, as it will definitely be remembered by many, but Robbi Jade Lew is just entering the poker scene in a serious way.  Only time will tell if “The Robbi” will stand the test of time and remain the second poker hand named for a person.
