PokerStars The Big Game, which initially ran for two seasons in 2010 and 2011, is making a comeback after a 12-year break. The show will maintain its original format, featuring a qualifier known as the ‘Loose Cannon’ who receives financial backing for a high-stakes cash game session against some of the world’s top poker players.
Each gaming session consists of 150 hands, and the Loose Cannon gets to keep any profits they make at the end. For this new series, The Big Game is hitting the road and heading to Las Vegas. This time, the focus is not only on finding new Loose Cannon qualifiers but also on following their entire journey, right from the beginning to the actual game.
According to Steve Preiss, VP of PokerStars North America, “The Big Game was one of the most beloved poker programs of all time. Reimagining and relaunching The Big Game was an obvious choice as we continue to prioritize creating top-notch poker content.”
“The Big Game on Tour promises to deliver the high-level play that hardcore poker fans expect from poker content. At the same time, we aim to capture the entire journey of our Loose Cannons in a way that will hopefully attract new audiences as well.”
The Big Game featured some of the most unforgettable and widely watched poker hands in poker show’s history. Who can forget the epic showdown when Ernest Wiggins ran it four times against Phil Hellmuth? And then, there was the classic moment when Tony G pretended not to look at his cards while facing off against the legendary Poker Brat, Hellmuth.
The Big Game stands as a legendary poker show that has not only provided memorable moments for fans but also attracted seasoned pros, WSOP champions, and some of the biggest names in the poker world. With its recent revival and a “Big Game on Tour” twist, the poker world can once again look forward to thrilling gameplay and captivating journeys of new Loose Cannon qualifiers in Las Vegas.
PokerStars announced the return of the show on their X (formerly Twitter) account.
