Where to begin with this one? Playing online has its benefits, multi-tabling, and playing in your boxer shorts while stuffing your face without a care in the world. After watching this hand though, one thing to be truly grateful for is you can not accidentally muck your hand! That is exactly what Dusk Till Dawn owner Rob Yong did vs Ryan Feldman during a high-stakes stream at Hustler Casino Live out in Cyprus. The size of the pot? only a measly $192k, No biggie. Let’s dive in and see exactly what happened.
Three players made it to the flop after Rob Yong ($659,200, Cut-off) Raised it to $1,000 with Sinan ($136,400), in the small blind, chucked out a hefty 3-bet to $8,000 with which was matched by Rob & Ryan Feldman ($79,800, Button, ).
.With $25k in the middle, seeing a Queen on the flop
must have felt bittersweet for Rob, these types of hands are never a fun place to be. Ryan had also picked up a piece, having flopped bottom pair. First to act Sinan led out into his opponents with a sizeable bet of $20,000. After Yong made the call with top pair, Ryan felt obliged to call and see the Turn. He also had a backdoor nut-flush draw to go with his bottom pair.Although he hid it well, Sinan clearly hated the ace on the Turn
. After a little time, he checked it over, with Yong following suit. Last to act Feldman must have loved this spot. Not only had he turned two pairs, he was also last to act. If he bets out it can look like he’s attacking his opponents who have slowed down.Ryan’s play was to jam all in which I like, it becomes a polarising spot where he is telling his opponents I am super strong or bluffing/semi-bluffing.
Obviously, this was a super sick spot for Sinan, if his Kings could be good against Feldman who could be drawing to the hearts flush draw with a piece of the board, he still had Yong to consider. Sinan made the controlled lay-down, as for Rob… Well, he was not quite so controlled he made the questionable call.
It is at this point that Rob somehow misreads his hand, Announcing “Yeah I’m dead” while mucking his cards to the dealer. Because the had was all in the dealer did not scoop up Rob’s cards, the river was yet to be dealt. Yong having seen this, turned over his hand to let the table see what he had. “Of course your going to win, you have a Queen” laughed Feldman. “Guys I mucked my cards” exclaimed Rob, to which “Ryan replied “No no, your Good” not wanting his opponent’s hand to be dead. Gentlemanly Rob replied “I would not accept it” (if he wins the hand”The players decided to still run the hand. However, Rob insisted he mucked his hand and was no longer involved.
Lo and behold the River was a Queen!
. What should have been a clumsy muck by Rob spiraled into him gracefully persisting he had mucked and he did not want the money. As you would imagine Feldman did not want to win in such a manner, and insisted “at least keep the fifty”“I mucked guys, I mucked, it’s Poker” Rob went on to say, and to be honest he is right. He’s experienced enough to read his hand. and is experienced enough to know not to muck your hand whilst it is still live. Fair play to both players they handled it with dignity and class.
Next time I’m playing an online session, I will be forever grateful these types of mistakes can not happen 🙂
