Doyle Brunson’s ten WSOP bracelets cemented his status amongst the top players. Doyle Brunson shares second place with Johnny Chan and Phil Ivey, with only Phil Hellmuth holding more at 16.

Early Success and Main Event Dominance

In 1976, Brunson secured his first bracelet in the $5,000 No-Limit Deuce to Seven Lowball single draw event, triumphing over a field of 26 participants. Remarkably, that same year, he became the WSOP Main Event champion, marking his second bracelet win within weeks. Brunson continued his winning streak by securing back-to-back Main Event victories in 1976 and 1977, overcoming increased competition as the player count rose from 22 to 34.

Alongside his Main Event success, Brunson showcased his versatility by conquering various stud variants.In 1977, he claimed the Limit Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo bracelet, further validating his reputation as a formidable stud player. The following year, he added another bracelet in the Stud event, demonstrating his consistent dominance in this particular poker format.

Following a 12-year bracelet drought, Brunson made a triumphant comeback in 1991, prevailing in the $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em event against a field of 208 players.This victory highlighted his enduring skill and adaptability, solidifying his place among poker’s elite. In 1998, Brunson reaffirmed his expertise in stud games by capturing the bracelet in the Limit Razz $1,500 event, surpassing 154 opponents.

Brunson’s WSOP success extended beyond his proficiency in stud variants and hold’em.

In 2003, he claimed his ninth bracelet in the $2,000 Limit HORSE event, demonstrating his versatility in mixed-game formats. Brunson’s final WSOP bracelet came in 2005, triumphing over 300 players in the $5,000 NLHE 6-Handed event, showcasing his continued dominance.
