William Lin recorded his first live cash in January 2005, he played in a $291 + $39 No Limit Hold’em event at the L.A. Poker Classic in Los Angeles, finishing in 38th place and cashing $2,003.

Then, in April 2006, he entered the $25,000 + $500 WPT Championship No Limit Hold’em at the Fourth Annual Five-Star World Poker Classic in Las Vegas, where he placed 30th and earned $87,875.

Following that, in July 2006, Lin competed in the $2,500 No Limit Hold’em event at the 37th World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. He finished 10th and took home $59,340.

The next year, in June 2007, he participated in the $2,500 No Limit Hold’em – Six Handed event at the 38th World Series of Poker, where he achieved 3rd place and cashed $196,758.

Moreover, in November 2010 when he entered the $2,375 + $125 Main Event No Limit Hold’em at the 2010 Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza IV in Las Vegas. He finished in 1st place and took home $127,620.

In December 2013, he participated in the $130 No Limit Hold’em Deepstack at the Colorado Poker Championship 8 in Black Hawk, where he placed 1st and cashed $3,830.
