Walter Smiley’s first recorded live cash occurred in May 1976 at the 7th World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. He finished in 1st place in a $5,000 Seven Card Stud, winning his best live cash of $35,000.

Two decades later, in March 1996, he participated in the $1,500 Seven Card Stud Split event at the 27th WSOP. Walter finished in 5th place and earned $18,375.

In October 2007, Walter played in a $300 Omaha Hi/Lo during the Big Poker Oktober in Bell Gardens. He finished in 1st place and bagged $10,773.
