Vince Burgio, an American professional poker player and writer, is based in West Hills, California. A Senior Poker Hall of Fame member, he was a columnist for Card Player Magazine and is the author of Pizza, Pasta and Poker and Inside Poker: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. With total live earnings of $2,236,438, his best live cash was $168,000 for a 4th place finish at the 25th Annual WSOP in Las Vegas in May 1994. Burgio also holds one WSOP bracelet from the 25th Annual WSOP.

Vince Burgio: Early Life

Born in Kansas City, Missouri, Burgio graduated from the University of Missouri and later worked for Boeing in Seattle. He moved to California in 1976 to start a construction business. Growing up watching his father play poker, he began playing in local tournaments in 1987.

After a few successful tournaments in Las Vegas, including a third-place finish at the Hilton and a $54,000 win at the Riviera, Burgio decided to pursue poker professionally, leaving his construction career behind. His early success included a fourth-place finish in the 1994 WSOP Main Event.

Vince Burgio: Live Tournament Participation

In July 1987, Vince Burgio earned his first recorded live cash at the Summer Poker Festival in Las Vegas. He placed 3rd in the $225 Razz event, earning $5,300. Later that month, he competed in the $500 California Lowball Draw for the Gold tournament in Las Vegas. He finished 2nd, taking home $30,000.

In December 1989, Burgio triumphed in the $1,550 Limit A-5 Draw with Joker at the Hall of Fame Poker Classic in Las Vegas. His victory earned him $66,000.

In May 1994, he recorded his best live cash at the $10,000 No Limit Hold’em World Championship during the 25th WSOP in Las Vegas. He placed 4th and earned $168,000.

In August 1994, he claimed another notable win in the $5,000 No Limit Hold’em event. At the 10th Annual Diamond Jim Brady in Oceanside, securing 1st place and $164,000.

In May 1994, Burgio won his first WSOP bracelet in the $1,500 Seven-Card Stud Split event. There at the 25th WSOP in Las Vegas, earning $127,200.

June 2024, Burgio participated in the $1,000 No Limit Hold’em – Super Seniors event at the 55th WSOP in Las Vegas, where he placed 107th and earned $3,039.
