Tommy Garza’s poker career began with his first live cash in August 1999. He participated in a $200 Limit Hold’em event at the Five Days of Gold in Reno. Garza finished 1st and won $6,360.

In August 2002, he competed in a $500 No Limit Hold’em event at the Hall of Fame Poker Classic in Las Vegas. He placed 3rd and earned $6,300.
