Surinder Sunar, a British poker player born in Dhianpur, India, currently lives in Wolverhampton, England. He moved to England with his family when he was seven years old. With a long career in poker, Sunar has appeared on numerous European TV poker shows and is a member of the European Poker Hall of Fame. He also holds a black belt in karate, which he believes helps him maintain focus during lengthy tournaments.
Sunar is especially well-known for his 2004 WPT Paris win, where he not only conquered a tough field but also withstood persistent taunting from Tony G at the final table.
He has accumulated over $4.6 million in live tournament winnings, with his largest cash being $828,956 from his win at Rendez Vous à Paris in July 2004.
Surinder Sunar’s poker career includes several notable performances. At the Grand Prix of Poker in Las Vegas in January 1987, he placed 16th in the $1,000 No Limit Hold’em event, earning $2,710.
By November 1996, Sunar had finished 2nd in the $7,500 + 100 No Limit Hold’em Championship Event at the Poker Championship in Atlantic City, receiving $122,500.
