Steve Wong is a Dutch professional poker player and a former Full Tilt Poker.net pro. He resides in Hoofddorp, Netherlands, and has total live earnings of $1.5 million. Wong’s best live cash of $542,700 came in October 2006 when he finished 2nd at the Festa Al Lago V Poker Tournament in Las Vegas.
Steve Wong discovered poker after watching his brother compete in the 2004 Master Classics Main Event in Amsterdam. Inspired, he started playing Limit Hold’em online, gradually building his bankroll. Wong learned the game from his cousin and began his poker journey on the Internet, where he became known as “S18” on various online poker platforms. His early success online paved the way for him to turn professional in 2006, transitioning to live tournaments and embarking on a career in competitive poker.
Steve Wong recorded his first live cash in June 1991, placing 3rd in the £100 Pot Limit 7 Card Stud event at the Festival of Poker in London, earning $3,736.
In July 2006, Wong finished 4th in the $1,000 NLH event at the 37th WSOP in Las Vegas. He earned $162,252.
His best live cash came in October 2006, when he placed 2nd in the $10,300 No Limit Hold’em Championship Event. He earned $542,700 at the Festa Al Lago V Poker Tournament in Las Vegas. That same series, he won 1st place in the $5,180 No Limit Hold’em event, adding $199,105 to his earnings.
In December 2006, Wong secured another victory by winning the $2,620 No Limit Hold’em event. He earned $215,255 at the Fifth Annual Five Diamond World Poker Classic in Las Vegas.
In April 2008, he participated in the $25,500 NLH Championship Event at the WPT World Championship in Las Vegas. He finished 31st and earned $65,955.
March 2024, Wong competed in the $400 No Limit Hold’em event at WSOPC Chicago in Hammond, finishing 33rd and earning $608.
