Sami Kelopuro, started his poker career in 2005 when he was invited to participate in a sit-and-go home game. Kelopuro served in the Finnish Defence Forces for nine months after high school. During his service, he continued to play online poker and decided to pursue a career in poker after completing his military duty.

Kelopuro’s first recorded live cash occurred in April 2009 at the European Poker Tour, Sanremo. He claimed 12th position in a €5,000 + 250 No Limit Hold’em, departing with $59,850.
