Ryan Mingho Yum is a Chinese professional poker player from Hong Kong. He entered the poker scene in 2014 and just got his first ever win at Poker Dream, Vietnam in 2022.  He is now the Co-Founder of Helixx Holdings, focused on research and investing in blockchain projects.

He considered himself one of the top regular poker players, both online and live, for eight years. Other than playing in tournaments, Ryan specializes in data analysis and using software such as Hold’em Manager and PIO Solver. These help to come up with optimal game theory strategies for students who want to improve their poker skills.

Ryan Mingho Yum: Poker Career

Ryan Yum began his playing career in 2014 when he joined the Asia Pacific Poker Tour. This was his first and only cash in that year ranking 31st among 494 entries for $7,000. In 2015, again he only cashed one tournament. He landed in 68th place at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure for over $20,000.

Ryan joined the Asia Pacific Poker Tour 2016 in Macau and cashed in three events. The first was at the HK$18,000 +2,000 NLHE, where he won over $7,000. Next was the HK$76,000 + 4,000 NLHE High Roller Re-Entry garnering over $55,000 in fourth place. Lastly, at the HK$ 95,000 + 5,000 NLHE Main Event, he finished 33rd  for over $20,000. 

In 2022, he entered the Triton Poker Series in Madrid, joining two events. He got ninth place in the $25,000 No Limit Short Deck Hold’em Ante Only for over $50,000. While ending up in seventh place in the $50,000 Short Deck Hold’em Ante Only for over $150,000. He ended 2022 by participating in the Poker Dream Vietnam 2022. Where He won his first-ever tournament: the ₫ 66,500,000 + ₫ 3,500,000 (around $290) NLHE – Short Deck Ante Only for $37,384.

 Ryan Yum was able to showcase his skills both online and live during his eight years of playing poker. As of today, he has a Total Live Earnings of $421,570 with a best live cash of $153,216.
