Rupert Elder: Early Life

Elder was born in Bury St Edmunds, England, and graduated in Economics from the University of Warwick. Initially aspiring to become a stock trader or programmer, Elder’s interest in poker grew during his teenage years. While in college, he earned $500,000 playing online, which prompted him to choose poker as a career after graduation. Despite minor reservations from his father, he pursued professional poker, laying the groundwork for his future success.

Rupert Elder’s Live Tournament Participation

Rupert Elder recorded his first live cash in January 2006, finishing in 82nd place in the WPT Main Event – No Limit Hold’em at the PCA in Paradise Island, earning $10,700.

In April 2011, he secured his best live cash, winning the €5,300 No Limit Hold’em Main Event at EPT Sanremo for an impressive $1,355,488. Just two months later, in June 2011, Elder competed in the $2,500 No Limit Hold’em Six-Handed event at the WSOP in Las Vegas, finishing 18th for $25,769.

In July 2011, he participated in the $10,000 No Limit Hold’em WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas, where he achieved a 132nd-place finish and earned $54,851.

In January 2013, Elder claimed victory in the A$1,100 No Limit Hold’em event at the Aussie Millions Poker Championship in Melbourne, winning $263,925. Later that year, in April 2013, he triumphed in the €1,100 No Limit Hold’em Turbo event at EPT Berlin, taking home $65,279.

In his most recent participation, in December 2022, Elder competed in the $345 No Limit Hold’em Big Stack event in Scottsdale, finishing 26th and earning $897.
