Reza Payvar’s first recorded live cash occurred in January 1998 during the Carnivale of Poker in Las Vegas. He finished in 8th place in a $5,000 + 80 No Limit Hold’em – Championship Event, cashing $15,300.

On October 27th, 2004, Reza played in a $2,000 + 80 Phil Hellmuth Invitational – No Limit Hold’em during the National Championship of Poker in Inglewood. He finished in 2nd place and cashed $47,740.

Shortly after, in November 30th, 2004, he reached the final table by placing 2nd at the Five-Diamond World Poker Classic in Las Vegas. He entered in a $2,000 + 80 No Limit Hold’em and earned $107,947.

At the Third Annual Five-Star World Poker Classic in Las Vegas in April 2005, he earned a cash prize of $56,615. Reza participated in a $25,000 + 500 Main Event WPT – No Limit Hold’em Championship and secured 26th place.
