Qiyu Zhou, known as “Nemo”, is a Canadian Woman’s Grandmaster in Chess. She’s not only a skilled poker player but also a successful Twitch streamer creating content in chess and poker. Moreover, Nemo became the first chess player signed by an eSports organization, Counter Logic Gaming in August 2020.

Qiyu Zhou: Early Life

Qiyu’s chess journey began at the age of four in France. Her family later relocated to Finland in late 2004, where Qiyu’s talent flourished. She secured victory in the Finnish Youth Chess Championships five times (2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010) in the U10 Open section. Notably, in 2010, she triumphed at the Nordic School Chess Championships in the U11 Open division in Sweden. Furthermore, Qiyu earned a silver medal in the U8 Girls section at the World Youth Chess Championship in Vung Tàu, Vietnam, in 2008.

Qiyu Zhou: Live Tournament Participation

Qiyu Zhou boasts an impressive record, having cashed in four live tournaments between 2022 and 2023. Zhou demonstrated exceptional skill, accumulating a total of $26,691 in live earnings at the time of writing. 

Her first cash occurred in June 2022 at the 53rd World Series of Poker, $1,500 No Limit Hold’em Event held in Las Vegas. Zhou finished in 1165th place earning $2,400.

In August 2023, she showcased her skills at the Enclave Celebrity Invitational $50,000 Freeroll, No Limit Hold’em Event held in Las Vegas as well. she emerged victorious, claiming 1st place and earning an impressive cash prize of $20,000.
