Phillip Luong’s first recorded live cash occurred in March 1998 at the Winnin’ o’ the Green in Los Angeles. He finished in 4th place in a $200 + 20 Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo Split, cashing $1,390.

Later in July of that year, he participated in a $100 Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo Split during the Summer Challenge in Compton. Phillip clinched victory and won $14,280.

In February 1999, Phillip played in a $2,000 + 60 LAPC No Limit Hold’em Championship at the LA Poker Classic VIII. He clinched another victory and won his biggest live cash of $97,600.
