Paul McKinney’s first recorded live cash occurred in November 1996 during the United States Poker Championship. He finished in 5th place in a $7,500 + 100 No Limit Hold’em , cashing $24,500.

In May 1998, Paul played in a $10,000 No Limit Hold’em Championship during the 29th World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. He finished in 9th place and earned $57,500.

During the 31st WSOP in May 2000, he finished in 33rd place. Paul took part in a $10,000 No Limit Texas Hold’em – World Championship and cashed $25,000.
