O’Neil Longson is an American professional poker player from Las Vegas, Nevada, with over $2.1 million in live tournament earnings. His best live cash of $200,000 came when he finished in 1st place at the United States Poker Championship in November 1996. Longson was a prominent figure in high-stakes Pot Limit Omaha games during the 1990s. He was regarded as one of the top PLO players globally, known for his aggressive preflop raises and his practice of betting in the dark.
Longson has won a total of three WSOP bracelets during his poker career. His first was during the 25th WSOP in April 1994. Second at the 34th WSOP in April 2003, and his third at the 36th WSOP in June 2005.
O’Neil Longson’s poker career includes several significant accomplishments. To begin with, in May 1980, he finished 4th in the $1,000 No Limit Hold’em event at the 11th World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas, earning $13,800.
Years after, Longson made a notable breakthrough in April 1994, when he won the $1,500 Pot Limit Omaha event at the 25th WSOP in Las Vegas. He secured 1st place and a prize of $100,800, along with a WSOP bracelet.
Building on this achievement, he further distinguished himself in March 1995 by winning the $5,000 No Limit Hold’em Championship Event at the LA Poker Classic IV in Los Angeles, where he claimed 1st place and $114,000.
Subsequently, in November 1996, Longson triumphed in the $4,000 + 100 Limit Seven Card Stud event at the United States Poker Championship in Atlantic City. He finished 1st and won $200,000.
In August 1997, he achieved 2nd place in the $5,000 + 80 Championship Event No Limit Hold’em at the Hall of Fame Poker Classic in Las Vegas, which awarded him $105,800.
Later, in April 2003, Longson continued his success by winning the $5,000 No Limit Deuce to Seven Draw event at the 34th WSOP in Las Vegas, which earned him $147,680 and another WSOP bracelet.
Moreover, Longson won his second WSOP bracelet in June 2005 by taking 1st place in the $1,500 Seven Card Razz event at the 36th WSOP in Las Vegas, receiving $125,690.
Most recently, in June 2017, Longson participated in the $545 + 55 No Limit Hold’em Seniors 50+ event at the 2017 Wynn Summer Classic in Las Vegas. He placed 45th and cashed $1,331.
