Nick Pupillo: Early Life

Pupillo grew up as the oldest of seven siblings in Addison, Illinois. He was into sports like soccer and basketball. Although he learned poker in grade school, it was just a fun game back then. His interest in poker got a boost when he met his new friend Brandon at Ace Hardware. Nick and his friends organized $25 tournaments and low-stakes cash games at “Da Shed” for weekly play.

He did well in his first tournament, finishing third and winning $85. Encouraged by Brandon, he started playing more frequently, almost all the time. He saw positive results quickly. To be closer to the action, he moved out of his parent’s house and lived with Brandon and his grandma. Later, he moved in with his girlfriend and her parents.

Pupillo started his poker journey on March 4th, 2013, joining the $200 NLH at the 2013 Chicago Poker Classic. There he secured 7th place, pocketing $371.

On June 26th, 2014, Pupillo competed in the $1,500 NLH at the 45th WSOP, placing 12th and winning $99,981.
