Nick Petrangelo: Early Life

In 2015, Nick Petrangelo shared the start of his poker career with the Slovak website allin1.sk. He also revealed that while growing up in Massachusetts, he played golf and hockey with a lot of motivation. From Skidmore College in New York, he received a degree in Economics and Finance.

He became quite interested in the game of poker while playing with friends in high school. This inspired him to learn as much as he could on his own.

Whilst in school, he tried to get together as much money as he could to use on PokerStars. Starting at the lowest stakes cash games and working his way up to $5/$10.

When he eventually ran into poker player Jonathan Jaffe, he realized he needed to change his approach. Jonathan served as his mentor. Providing all of his advice and coaching while allowing him to watch him play for many years. He assisted him as well in low-stakes tournaments.

Conclusion

Nick is a true tournament beast. His best piece of advice for aspiring pros who want to make poker their profession is to avoid getting too worked up before a game. On The Hendon Mob database’s United States All Time Money List, Petrangelo is currently ranked 12th. Given these numbers, it is only reasonable to assume that the young player will continue to rule the game for many years to come. He has recently been playing almost exclusively in high-roller events. it is likely that he will do so in the future and be a regular at all major buyin events.
