Next Gen Poker was created by three poker-loving college friends. Rosey, Frankie, and Jack, who vlog and post their sessions with commentary and graphics. They are from Texas and started their journey at The Texas Card House. Now they play at venues all over the USA. They also host meet-up games to engage with their fanbase.
The Next Gen Poker channel was created in August 2020.
They have built up a following of close to 200k subscribers on YouTube. The premise of their stream is their internal competition between the three of them. Whereby they buy-in for the same amount and see who comes out the biggest winner. They are also popular on TikTok with over 260 thousand followers and close to 4 million likes on their videos. Check out their content for sick mid-stakes poker vlogs with great analysis and commentary.
“Next Gen Poker represents the new generation of poker players influenced by the modern greats- Phil Ivey, Daniel Negreanu, etc. This channel will take you through the lives of three college kids who fell in love with the game. We’ll take you through all our battles with new stakes, casinos, and opponents” – quoted from the Next Gen Poker website, which also sells merchandise!
The saga of Next Gen Poker commenced on a Texas college campus. Jack, Frankie, and Rosey initiated their poker journey by engaging in dollar games with fellow fraternity members.
Frankie recollected, “Our poker endeavour’s started on the pool table with Jack, Rosey, and a couple of fraternity pals. Back then, we lacked a proper poker table; all we had was a pool table and a modest ten-dollar balance. So, we pooled our ten bucks and set out to play some poker.”
During their sophomore year, the trio of young poker enthusiasts found themselves returning home as the COVID-19 pandemic swept across the US, leading to campus closures. A few months later, when they resumed their campus life, the landscape had changed drastically—card rooms and casinos were shuttered everywhere.
“COVID was still wreaking havoc (at that time), casinos worldwide were closed, and we couldn’t even enjoy our favorite poker vloggers like Brad Owen and Andrew Neeme. It hit us, ‘If we can’t watch them, no one can,'” Frankie recounted.
Recognizing a window of opportunity to occupy the temporary void in the poker vlogging realm, the trio made a decisive move. They packed their bags and embarked on a journey to Choctaw Casino & Resort, a considerable hour-and-a-half away, as it happened to be one of the rare poker rooms still operational during those times.
And thus, Next Gen Poker was brought into existence.
