Mike Lutz recorded his first live cash in June 2004, he participated in the Festa al Lago II in Las Vegas, entering a $1,500 + $70 No Limit Hold’em event. He finished in 5th place and cashed $11,620.

Following this, in January 2005, Lutz competed in The Sixth Annual Jack Binion World Poker Open in Tunica, playing a $500 + $50 Pot Limit Hold’em tournament. He secured 3rd place, earning $28,028.

In addition, in April 2005, he took part in the Third Annual Five-Star World Poker Classic in Las Vegas, where he entered a $2,000 + $80 No Limit Hold’em event. He finished in 9th place, earning $8,780.
