Michael Tait recorded his first live cash in January 2005, he entered the $500 + $50 Pot Limit Hold’em event at the Sixth Annual Jack Binion World Poker Open in Tunica, finishing in 14th place and cashing $3,211.

Following this, in December 2005, Tait participated in the $15,000 + $300 Main Event No Limit Hold’em at the Fourth Annual Five Diamond World Poker Classic in Las Vegas, finishing in 57th place and earning $24,150.
