Michael Tait recorded his first live cash in January 2005, he entered the $500 + $50 Pot Limit Hold’em event at the Sixth Annual Jack Binion World Poker Open in Tunica, finishing in 14th place and cashing $3,211.

Following this, in December 2005, Tait participated in the $15,000 + $300 Main Event No Limit Hold’em at the Fourth Annual Five Diamond World Poker Classic in Las Vegas, finishing in 57th place and earning $24,150.

Later on, in July 2006, he played in the $10,000 No Limit Texas Hold’em World Championship Event at the 37th World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. He finished in 257th place and cashed $38,759.

In February 2011, he achieved another milestone by competing in the $555 No Limit Hold’em Re-Entry event at the WSOP Circuit in West Palm Beach, finishing in 3rd place and earning $29,654.
