Melissa Hayden recorded her first live cash in January 1995, she won first place in the $400 + $30 Ladies Limit Hold’em event at the Queens Poker Classic V in Las Vegas, earning $5,940.

Following this success, in April 2000, she claimed first place in the $500 + $40 No Limit Hold’em event at The First Annual Jack Binion World Poker Open in Tunica, securing $55,124.

Later that same year, in May 2000, Hayden achieved a second-place finish in the $5,000 + $100 Limit Hold’em event at the 31st World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas, which awarded her $142,000.
