Matthew Stout is an American professional poker player from Bayonne, New Jersey, with over $4.5 million in live tournament earnings. His best live cash of $313,370 came when he finished in 2nd place at the 44th WSOP in June 2013. During his poker career, he hAS won 8 rings in WSOP Circuit events. He is also the founder and president of the Charity Series of Poker, as well as the husband of Brittney Stout.
He grew up in Bayonne, New Jersey, as the youngest of four siblings. By the age of four, he was playing five-card draw poker with his siblings, sparking a passion for the game. In high school, he stayed active with hockey, chess, and academics, though his grades only improved after his brother’s success inspired him.
While studying business administration at the College of New Jersey, a paperwork error caused him to miss a semester. During this time, Stout turned a $500 poker loan into $8,000 in Atlantic City and later earned $32,000 in a WSOP Circuit event. With his bankroll growing to $70,000, even his parents supported his decision to extend his break from college.
Matthew Stout’s first recorded live cash occurred in March 2006 at the WSOP Circuit in Atlantic City. He finished in 2nd place in a $500 + 60 No Limit Hold’em, cashing $32,480.
In November 2009, Matthew entered in a $,700 + 300 No Limit Hold’em Championship at the World Poker Finals in Mashantucket. He ended up in 3rd place, taking home $265,710.
In June 2012, Matthew participated in a $1,000 No Limit Hold’em Event #33 at the 43rd WSOP in Las Vegas. He made 3rd place finish, pocketing $192,813.
Following this, in June 2013, he played in a $3,000 No Limit Hold’em 6-Handed Event #21 at the 44th WSOP. Matthew finished in 2nd place securing his best live cash of $313,370.
Then, in April 2014, Matthew joined in a $3,500 No Limit Hold’em Championship at the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Showdown. He ended up in 5th place, claiming $308,501.
Four years later, in April 2018, he took part in a $3,500 No Limit Hold’em Championship Event #12 at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown. Matthew placed 5th, cashing $189,880.
In July 2024, Matthew competed in a $3,000 Pot Limit Omaha 6-Handed Bracelet Event #97 at the 55th WSOP. He ended up in 72nd place, earning $16,454.
