Matt Matros, born on May 13, 1977, is a professional poker player and author from Brooklyn, New York, recognized for his achievements at the poker table and his contributions to poker literature. A three-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) champion, Matros has earned total live tournament winnings of $2,597,095.
His largest cash prize came on April 19, 2004, when he placed 3rd in the prestigious $25,000 WPT No Limit Hold’em Championship in Las Vegas, earning $706,903. In addition to his poker accomplishments, Matros authored four books and coached players on the former training site CardRunners.
Matros holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Yale University and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Sarah Lawrence College. He resides in Brooklyn, NY, with his wife, Ivy. Matros started playing poker in school but took it seriously at 21 when he accessed America’s cardrooms.
