TheV0id Scandal: A $1.4 Million Controversy

In 2007, a major controversy rocked the online poker world involving Mark Teltscher. The incident centered around the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) Main Event, hosted by PokerStars, where an account under the username “TheV0id” won a massive $1.4 million prize. Initially, the win was celebrated as a great achievement, but it soon came under investigation. What followed was an inquiry that uncovered rule-breaking and dealt a major blow to Mark’s reputation.

“TheV0id” was registered under Mark’s sister’s name, but it was later revealed that Mark himself had used the account during the event. This violated PokerStars’ strict rules against multi-accounting, which prohibit players from entering tournaments using more than one account. After a thorough investigation, PokerStars confirmed the violation. The investigation into Natalie Teltscher’s WCOOP win revealed that she had received outside assistance, although she initially denied it. It took a court case before she was forced to admit receiving help, but it was never confirmed if the “outside agent” was indeed her brother, Mark. As punishment, the $1.4 million prize was confiscated, and a $10,000 fine was imposed.
