Mario Esquerra Sr first recorded live cash occurred in August 1990 at the 6th Annual Diamond Jim Brady. He finished in 6th place in a $300 + 30 Limit Hold’em, cashing $9,006.

In April 1999, Mario entered in a $1,500 Limit Hold’em at the 30th WSOP. He finished in 3rd place and pocketed $86,780.

In the following years, Mario placed 2nd at the California State Poker Championship in September 2005. He secured his biggest live cash of $197,200 in a $5,000 + 100 No Limit Hold’em – Championship Event.

Three years later, in September 2008, Mario placed 5th from the same series. He cashed $35,910 in a $1,500 + 80 No Limit Hold’em Championship.
