Marc Karam: Early Life

Marc Karam was born on August 28, 1980, in Montreal, Canada, to Lebanese parents. In 1982, the family moved to Lebanon, but they returned to Canada a year later, settling in Ottawa, where Marc still resides. Karam pursued vocational training in Glazier and Metal Mechanics at the Ontario Industrial and Finishing Skills Centre while apprenticing at a window and framing company. Additionally, he worked as a freelance web designer before transitioning to professional poker.

Karam began playing poker in 2001, participating in online games and local tournaments while balancing his professional commitments. His early career marked a pivotal moment in 2006 when he decided to quit his job and dedicate himself entirely to poker after making significant strides in live tournaments.

Marc Karam recorded his first live cash in January 2006, finishing 37th in the $7,800 WPT Main Event – No Limit Hold’em at the PCA on Paradise Island, earning $13,500.

In March 2006, Karam placed 4th in the €10,000 No Limit Hold’em event at the EPT Monte Carlo Grand Final, taking home $234,874.

In January 2007, Karam secured 6th place in the A$10,500 Main Event at the Aussie Millions Poker Championship in Melbourne, earning $238,584.

His best live cash came in March 2007 when he placed 2nd in the €10,000 No Limit Hold’em event at the EPT Monte Carlo Grand Final, winning an impressive $1,416,175.

In November 2007, Karam won the $550 H.O.R.S.E event at the WSOP Circuit – WSOPC Lake Tahoe, earning $11,916 and claiming his first WSOP Circuit title.
