Lucas Greenwood: Early Life

Lucas Greenwood started playing poker in high school, and by the time he graduated, he had established himself as one of the top SNG players on PokerStars.

Since November 2006, Lucas Greenwood has played video games online under the user name “yrwthmelthr”. In March 2008, in Calgary, he won his first live tournament. In early January 2010, he placed 21st in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventures Main Event for $75,000.

Lucas made his World Series of Poker debut at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. He went on to win two tournaments.

Midway through December 2015, Greenwood won the High Roller event of the inaugural PokerStars Championship, taking home about €45,000. In January 2017, he won the High Roller event of the European Poker Tour (EPT) in Prague 13. He won the Bahamas tournament against 120 other players, earning him close to $780,000.

Lucas won $570,000 in a London Triton Poker Series tournament in August 2019. He earned nearly €750,000 three weeks later at the EPT in Barcelona, where he placed fourth in a high roller one-day event and sixth in the Super High Roller. Greenwood additionally won the sixth event of the Australian Poker Open in Gold Coast in January 2020, taking home A$700,000. Two months later, he took third place with almost $340,000 in prize money at the PartyPoker Live Millions Super High Roller Series’ fourth event in Sochi. Greenwood received his highest payout to date of almost $900,000 at the Triton Series in London in late July 2023 after taking home the GGMillion Live. In total, Greenwood has made over $5.7 million from live poker tournaments.
