Larry Wright, an American part-time poker player, rancher, and a retired businessman from McQueeny, Texas, he has amassed live earnings exceeding $1.5 million, with his highest single cash amounting to $343,380. He earned his WSOP gold bracelet during the 43rd World Series of Poker in Las Vegas in June 2012. Wright also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Texas Card Players Association. Furthermore, he generously donates a portion of his poker winnings to a Charity in South Sudan.

Larry Wright: Early Life

Wright grew up in South Texas. He competed professionally as a water skier back in college. He is also a rancher in his hometown where he raised cattle and deer. Together with his Dad & Grandad, they played poker. He started by playing Razz and Triple Draw in 1975 for about 5 – 8 years until No-Limit became popular.

Larry Wright: Live Tournament Participation

Larry Wright first appeared in a recorded live tournament at the 33rd World Series of Poker in May 2002 in Las Vegas. He played in a $1,500 Pot Limit Hold’em event. Wright cashed for $2,280.

During the WSOP Circuit in Las Vegas in November 2005, Wright finished 3rd place. He participated in a $1,500 + 50 Short-handed No Limit Hold’em tournament and earned $23,455.

Wright won in a $550 No Limit Hold’em event at the Deep Stack Extravaganza I in Las Vegas in February 2012. He collected a cash prize of $25,709.

June 2012, marked a success for Larry at the 43rd World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. He won his first WSOP bracelet and a grand prize of $101,975 in a $1,500 No Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball event.

March 2014, at the Bellagio High Roller IV in Las Vegas, Wright earned $138,756. He finished 2nd in a $25,000 No Limit Hold’em – High Roller event.

Larry secured his highest single cash in December 2014 at the Aria High Roller 1 in Las Vegas. He finished second taking home $343,380 in a $25,000 No Limit Hold’em tournament.

Most recently, in July 2024 at the 55th World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, Wright cashed for $2,102 in a $1,000 No Limit Hold’em – Mini Main Event – Freezeout.
