Houston, with its vibrant poker community, became Cord’s arena. His passion for the game began even earlier, as he realized poker was his calling, inspired by the Moneymaker era. He started playing online poker when he was in the ninth grade. As he continued to play and practice, by the time he reached his senior year, he had become good at it and started playing consistently.

Lance started playing poker in 2011 and quickly found success. His first notable achievement was finishing 24th in a tournament called WSOP Circuit—WSOPC Bossier City on September 14th, 2011, winning $999 in prize money.

Later that same year, on December 6th, Lance participated in the Native American Casino Poker Tour – Choctaw, Durant. Lance finished in 1st place in a $125 event, earning $1,323. His success continued into 2012, where on September 16th, he once again secured 1st place in a WSOP Circuit event, winning $18,449.
