Kirk Morrison is an American professional poker player from Wichita, Kansas, with over $3.2 million in live tournament winnings, including one WSOP bracelet. Morrison’s biggest live cash prize of $2,011,135 came when he finished 2nd at the 2007 Fifth Annual Five Star World Poker Classic in Las Vegas.

Early Life

Kirk Morrison, originally from Wichita, Kansas, began his gambling journey at 20, moving to Las Vegas to play blackjack professionally. He befriended poker legends like Daniel Negreanu, Layne Flack, and Allen Cunningham, who steered him toward poker.

His early success included a third-place finish at the 1994 WSOP and a WSOP bracelet win in 1998. After a hiatus in New Zealand to escape gambling’s highs and lows, Morrison returned to poker, securing major finishes

Kirk Morrison: Live Tournament Participation

Kirk Morrison began his poker career in April 1994. He participated in $1,500 Limit Hold’em at the 25th WSOP in Las Vegas. Morrison claimed 3rd place and took home $72,300.

He captured his first WSOP bracelet in April 1998. Morrison competed in a $1,500 Seven-Card Stud at the 29th WSOP in Las Vegas. He secured 1st place, winning $148,185.

He achieved his best live payout in April 2007 by competing in $25,500 WPT – No Limit Hold’em Championship. It took place at the Fifth Annual Five Star World Poker Classic in Las Vegas. He secured 2nd place, bringing home $2,011,135 in prize money.

Later that year, in June 2007, he finished 7th in $5,000 World Championship Mixed Hold’em (Limit/No-Limit) at the 38th WSOP, earning $63,591.

Following this, he placed 56th in $10,000 World Championship No Limit Hold’em, also at the July 2007 38th WSOP, cashing for $154,194.

December 2010, he competed in the $10,030 No Limit Hold’em – Championship Event at the Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic in Las Vegas. Morrison placed 5th, which earned him $168,924.

In a recent appearance in November 2024, Morrison competed in $400 No Limit Hold’em – Closer (Ring Event #18). It took place at the World Series of Poker Circuit in Los Angeles. He placed 33rd, bringing in $843.
