Kathy Liebert is an American professional poker player from Nashville, Tennessee, born on October 1, 1967. She moved to Las Vegas and made a significant mark in the poker world, with over $6.9 million in live tournament earnings. Her biggest online winnings of $1,000,000 came when she won the Party Poker Million in March 2002. Kathy clinched her first bracelet at the 35th WSOP in May 2004 and also won her first online ring at the WSOPC Online Ring Event #8 in November 2022.
In addition, she signed a sponsorship deal to become a member of Team PokerStars Pro in 2008.
Liebert’s poker journey began at age 12 when she played small games with her family and read “How to Win at Poker” to improve her skills. Born in Tennessee and growing up as the middle child with two brothers in Long Island, she later attended Marist College in New York, where she earned a degree in business and finance. After working as a business analyst at Dun & Bradstreet, which she found unfulfilling, she moved to Colorado and discovered small-stakes poker games, quickly falling in love with the game. Encouraged by her new poker friends and armed with books, she decided to head to Las Vegas for tournaments in 1994, marking the start of an exciting new adventure.
Kathy Liebert’s first recorded live cash occurred in July 1994 at the Gold Coast Open in Las Vegas. She finished in 2nd place in a $100 + 20 Omaha Hi/Lo, cashing $9,046.
In May 2004, Kathy played in a $1,500 Limit Hold’em Shootout at the 35th World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. She clinched her first bra and won $118,800.
At the WPT Borgata Poker Open in Atlantic City in September 2005, she earned a cash prize of $427,115. Kathy participated in a $9,700 + 300 No Limit Hold’em – Championship Event and finished in 3rd place.
Following this, in May 2008, she entered a $10,000 World Championship Pot Limit Hold’em at the 39th WSOP. Kathy finished in 3rd place and took home $306,064.
Later in October of that year, she participated in a C$10,000 + 300 No Limit Hold’em during the North American Poker Championship in Niagara Falls. She placed 3rd and cashed $282,681.
