Kahle Burns, is an Australian professional poker player, born in Geelong, Australia. He has dominated the poker scene since his debut in 2009. 14 years later, he has amassed more than $14 million in live earnings, placing him second on Australia’s all-time money list. Notably, Kahle Burns is a two-time World Series of Poker bracelet holder. Burns also won $1.7 million in Triton Super High Roller Series in Cyprus last September 2022. Kahle Burns was introduced to poker by a friend who made a good hourly profit playing online. He started playing poker shortly after graduating from high school and aspired to be a poker pro. Kahle then began playing free pub poker with friends, studying starting hands, and grinding at Crown Casino’s PokerPro tables.
He quit his bar job after realizing he was making more money at poker tables than at the bar. Then he began playing cash games before beginning to participate in online and live tournaments. Since 2009, he has become a dominant high-stakes poker player, dominating the poker scene.
Burns’ first recorded live tournament was at the Joe Hachem Deep Stack Series 3 in Melbourne, where he finished 14th and cashed $2,566. Two years later, in August 2011, he showed instant greatness by finishing 1st at the 888PL Grand Final 2011 in Melbourne, winning $36,987.
Transitioning to his early successes, Burns made his mark in the 2013 WSOP Asia-Pacific Main Event, securing fifth-place and earning $211,392. As time progressed, Burns evolved into a prominent figure within the high roller circuit. He notably won the Sydney Championships in the summer of 2016, earning $226,295. Shortly thereafter, he continued his winning streak by winning the Western Classic Poker Championship in Perth, earning $55,674. The years 2016 and 2017 saw Burns consistently delivering impressive results, with his most significant cash coming in late 2017. He secured a remarkable third-place finish in the 2017 Main Event of Triton Macau and earned a staggering $1,300,035.
In July 2019 at the WSOP, he secured second place at the World Championship in Six-Handed NLH, earning $389,832. Then, in August, he had notable finishes at Triton London, accumulating a total prize of $778,662. In the same year, he clinched his 2 WSOP bracelets at the WSOP Europe’s €25K NLH Platinum High Roller and €2,500 No Limit Short Deck Hold’em event in October. These victories added $780,298 to his bankroll along with two coveted bracelets. Finally, in November, he played in 3 Poker Masters series, amassing a total of $610,700 in prize money. Burns had a significant win of $416,500 in the $25K NLHE event.
In 2020, he won the Aussie Millions 100K Challenge for $1,197,663 and had a 2nd place in the Super High Roller Bowl Australia for $803,396. These remarkable achievements propelled him to the position of the second honoree in the esteemed Australian Poker Hall of Fame.
Furthermore, Burns secured a significant victory in the 2022 Triton Mediterranean Poker Party’s $75,000 event. He defeated 88 entries to claim a $1,730,000 top prize—his best live cash to date. The event boasted a strong turnout, generating a $6,600,000 prize pool. Several notable players were eliminated before the final table, including Laszlo Bujtas, Michael Soyza, Bruno Volkmann, and Jonathan Jaffe.
Burns has continued to produce excellent results since then. Burns returned to the Australian Poker League Poker Tour in Melbourne in March 2023. He finished 17th in that tournament and earned $3,411.
