Ka Kwan Lau, a prominent poker player from Sheung Shui, Hong Kong, was born in 1986. On PokerStars, he goes by the screen name “kaju85.” According to his Hendon page, Lau has $5,976,158 in live tournament earnings (at the time of writing) and a top live cash of $2,294,756. This places him in the top five of Hong Kong’s all-time money list. Lau routinely participates in high stakes online PLO cash games.

Ka Kwan Lau: Poker Career

The first recorded cash on Ka Kwan Lau’s page is from July 2010. He earned $6,300 in the €1,000 Main Event at the Estrellas Poker Tour in Madrid. In August 2012, he placed 71st, winning €12,000 at EPT Barcelona’s €5,000 Main Event, with his next live tournament finish. Although that was his only live cash in 2012, his career took off on the live felt in 2013. He finished second in an EPT London event and second in a WPT event in Johannesburg, South Africa. In December 2013, he reached EPT Prague final table, securing fourth place in the €5,300 European Poker Tour Main Event. Lau walked away with €283,800. 

Subsequently, since then, the Hong Kong poker pro has remained quite active in the live tournament circuit. In October 2016, Ka Kwan Lau won the €10,300 Pot Limit Omaha event for €107,670 at the EPT Malta.

Lau earned his first EPT championship in October 2016 as he took down the €10,300 PLO tournament for €107,670. In April 2017, he took fourth place at PokerStars Championship Monte Carlo’s €1,100 NLHE National Championship, earning €59,700. He also won the HK$82,000 PLO High Roller event at the PokerStars Championship in Macau in April 2017. Consequently, he came in first place, winning $ 122,249. 

Furthermore, in June 2023, Ka Kwan Lau won his first WSOP gold bracelet for $ 2,294,756 in the $25,000 Pot Limit Omaha High Roller. He won the largest PLO event in World Series of Poker history, the $25,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller (Event #57), defeating a 449-runner field for a staggering $2,294,756 payoff and his first gold bracelet. It’s a significant increase over Lau’s previous high score of $773,708, which he got in 2021 by finishing as the runner-up in this particular event. Lau’s $2.2 million first-place reward brings his overall earnings to $5,976,158, virtually tripling his total cashes in his 13-year career.
