Joseph Matton has over two decades of experience in the business world, starting at Johnson & Johnson in 2001 and currently serving as Head of Global Strategic Relations. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Western University and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Windsor. He furthered his education with certificates in marketing from Stanford University Graduate School of Business and Columbia Business School.
Joseph began his poker journey in 2005 by joining a friendly game in St. Augustine, Florida with a $50 buy-in. Initially, he struggled to adjust, but he enjoyed the competitive and social aspects of the game. His first trip to Las Vegas was a turning point, where he played in a tournament at Caesar’s Palace and was knocked out quickly. He learned from the experience and returned the next day to make it to the final table, finishing in 4th place, and winning thousands of dollars.
This success began his poker career, which has since seen him play in bigger tournaments and against well-known players. He has developed the ability to manage his nerves and pressure, especially when playing on camera, and has had a humbling experience in a $110,000 buy-in tournament where he made a mistake due to camera pressure.
Joe debuted on March 7th, 2024, in BLP Episode 45. He dropped $23,800 after battling with Wolfgang Poker, Lynne Ji, Barry Woods, and others. They played a $50/100 ($200) No Limit Hold ’em game.
Matton has amassed a significant sum of earnings, exceeding $87,600, from his live tournament participation. His first live cash was in March 2013, when he participated in a $400 No Limit Hold’em event at the Deep Stack Extravaganza II in Las Vegas. Finishing in 27th place, Matton earned $1,140 in prize money.
His most notable achievement to date took place in December 2019, when he won the $600 No Limit Hold’em Event at the WSOP Circuit Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles, located in Bell Gardens. Matton made it to the final table and eventually won the tournament, defeating a professional player heads-up against Eddie Bryant.
Most recently, Joseph participated in a live tournament in May 2024. He entered the $1,700 No Limit Hold’em Main Event at the WSOPC Commerce Casino in Los Angeles, where he secured a notable 27th-place finish. As a result, Matton earned a respectable prize of $9,411.
Joseph Matton has a WSOP Circuit ring and over $87.6K in live tournament earnings. From humble beginnings in a $50 buy-in game in St. Augustine, Florida to playing against top professionals in Las Vegas, he has developed a strong foundation through perseverance and learning from his mistakes. As he continues to grow his online presence through his YouTube channel and appearances on Bally Live Poker, Joseph Matton is well-positioned to maintain his success in both poker and his professional career as Head of Global Strategic Relations at Johnson & Johnson.
