Joseph Cappello first appeared in a recorded live tournament in January 2006. He participated at the WPT Borgata Winter Open held in Atlantic City. Capello finished 7th place in a $2,500 + $150 No Limit Hold’em event earning $36,600.

March 2007 marked a victory in a $2,000 + $80 No Limit Hold’em event at The Wynn Classic held in Las Vegas. Cappello took home a grand prize of $125,839.
